Coal Standards Are Discussed By The Associated Press
Washington November 22 soft coal size standards for price fixing under the Guffey act were discussed at length at a hearing before the bituminous coal commission. Charles O Neil of New York proposed four major size groupings for the eastern industrial area. O Neill noted soft coal has been largely replaced by anthracite and fuel oil for domestic use in the eastern industrial area. Commission chairman Charles Hosford Jr urged operators to stabilize the industry and forget past sectional differences.
