West Virginia geography quirks and regional ties analysis
The Moundsville Journal surveys West Virginia’s geographic oddities and the statewide implications for commerce and identity. It notes Beckley’s mid latitude, extremes of the panhandles, and the lack of a central wholesale hub, urging study by the proposed state chamber of commerce and pondering independence ideas. The column shifts to Egypt and British policy, discussing Sir Samuel Hoare, Egyptian constitutions, Wafdists, and tensions around Sudan ownership as Europe faces Ethiopia turmoil.
