Kingston Pocahontas strip mining suit seeks 36000

Total damages of 36000 are sought in suits filed this week against the Kingston Pocahontas Local Company. The actions are by the Mirable Instruction Company and by Gene Leslie Stanley and J P Stanley as administrator of Sarah Frances Stanley deceased. The suit stems from a large dump during a strip mining operation that collapsed onto a house near Kingston. Attorneys Townsend and Townsend of Charleston, with John S. Keenan, represent the plaintiffs. Trials requested at January circuit court term.

Mount Hope Club Plans Playground Equipment Drive

Mount Hope Junior Woman's Club discussed funding for a grade school playground at the Son's Clubhouse. Acting chair Betty Thompson announced the project. members will bring gifts for a needy Mount Hope family at the next meeting. Eight new members were introduced.
