Military and diplomatic circles fear the Kennedy Khrushchev Cuban disarmament deal leaves Soviet technicians free to finish a new fishing port that could become a submarine base off the U S coast. Refugees report base construction while photo coverage tracks missiles and launchers aboard ships.
Boredom, heat, and mosquitoes plague Marines dug in on the hills of Guantanamo Bay Cuba. Four railroads propose cutting coal freight rates 17 to 20 percent for solid trainloads from northern West Virginia and Pennsylvania to New York harbor area electric plants. The victims were found in a parked car and in Yeager's car near Branchland after Johnson was shot in the head. Witnesses said a man dragged the woman from the car and fired again before placing her in another car.

Gov W W Barron to undergo gall stones surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital Baltimore today. He and Mrs Barron plan to depart by plane around 11 30 a m and expect about eight days hospitalization. He aims to be back at the Statehouse by December 1. Mrs Barron to stay with the governor’s brother Fred Barron.
Mount Hope police say Carl Garrett a miner in his early 40s shot himself in the stomach with a shotgun blast as they knocked on his back door at 10 55 am today in Mount Hope. Officers forced entry found Garrett dead in the back bedroom. He left a wife and three children who were away from home. Autopsy planned at noon by Fayette County Coroner M G Hresan.
