State police report seven guards were cut or stabbed at Patuxent State Prison in Jessup Maryland during a brief inmate disturbance involving about 80 inmates. The inmates surrendered with no struggle and order was restored in about two hours.

Firefighters said a wall fire between the front porch and a bedroom caused by wiring led to $230 in city damage at 300 Massey St. No injuries.
