Washington reports indicate the Nixon summit may yield an agreement for the Soviet Union to buy about 200 million dollars worth of U S feed grains annually for five to ten years Moscow would also consider a broader trade accord to include machinery chemicals and road building equipment Washington notes last year U S exports to Russia were about 375 million dollars and Congress must approve changes to Soviet trading status for loans and debt settlement prior to broader deals.

Air Pressure Test Mishap Injures Two at Power Plant

Two men were hospitalized after an air pressure blast at the Harrison Power Plant in Haywood. Darrell Day, 49, of Waynesburg, Pa., suffered serious injuries including leg fractures and head lacerations, while James Deuvaill, 34, of Sandy Hook, N.Y., was in fair condition with multiple injuries. About 25 workers were hurt. the blast happened when a test line burst, knocking down scaffolding.

Nixon visits Wallace in hospital amid recovery hopes

President Nixon met with partially paralyzed Alabama Governor George C. Wallace at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring Maryland. Nixon said Wallace is alert and may recover, noting the head and heart are intact while outlining Wallace’s ongoing physical therapy and limited mobility.

Three Charged In 1971 Murder In Huntington

In Huntington West Virginia four men were charged in connection with the 1971 shooting death of supermarket operator William Brewer. Lewis Bowman 25 Richard Hill 31 both of Huntington and Larry Justice 22 of Ashland Kentucky face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and aiding and abetting a murder. Theodore Mills 18 formerly of Charleston Catholic High School basketball star was charged earlier with the murder. Brewer 63 was killed in the supermarket parking lot on September 9.

A Fayette County man Leon W. Lewis of Long Branch is jailed in Raleigh County on manslaughter charges. Trooper C N Blizzard says he will be returned to Prince George County Virginia authorities for the case.

Wilmoth Faces Another Charge In Housing Project Probe

Fred Wilmoth of Vienna, a former Barron associate, was indicted by a federal grand jury on falsifying documents as a consultant for the Hanna Drive and Upton Creek rent supplement housing projects in Kanawha County. He previously faced tax evasion charges and was convicted in Fairmont court for underpaying taxes in 1962 and 1963.

Robert Lee Johnson, 56, a former Army sergeant serving a 25 year term for conspiring to live secrets to the Russians, was stabbed to death in the prisoner Visiting quarters. His son, Robert L. Jr., 22, lunged with a knife and was disarmed by guards and arraigned on first degree murder charges.

Agnew rules out Connally as Nixon running mate

Vice President Spiro Agnew dismissed Treasury Secretary John B. Connally as a vice presidential candidate.
