Hen Shares Barnyard Stage With Kitten In Odd Tale
A Riley road cat kittened in a barn but a setting hen incubated the stray under her wings. The owner later learned a plan to trap roaming chickens and protect gardens with a tongue in cheek method that ends in neighborly peace and a chicken dinner. The column then notes summer hints with a hay ride near Riley, Stanaford or Prince and teases an upcoming leafy retreat project. It mentions H. and M. shoe store on Neville Street with Miss Clara Daugherty and Mr. Eugene Meachum and performances at the opera house.
