Final Sewer Decision Will Be Made June 2

Fayetteville reports two veterans, Boyd Selvey and Robert Honaker, as candidates for councilmen to complete the Peoples Ticket in the upcoming municipal election June 3. The Oak Hill council will decide June 2 on continuing the proposed sewer project, with bids around $140,000 and $170,000, and total cost near $330,000 including a treating system.

Eskew Wins Six Rabbit Show Titles At Charleston

Fayetteville newcomer Stanley Eskew won six prizes in eight entries at the Chemical Valley Rabbit Association Spring Show in Charleston. His Chinchilla doe led with a first prize, while second prizes went to his junior and senior Chinchilla bucks. He also earned third prizes for a New Zealand White Intermediate buck and a Chinchilla Intermediate buck and fourth for a senior Chinchilla doe.

Mrs Green Gels Building Permit For Store on Center Street

Mrs Ira Green has been issued a permit to erect a one story frame building at Lot 8 Center Street. Foundation work is underway with construction expected soon. The 16 by 20 foot structure will house a small grocery and confectionery store costing about $1000. A $2.50 permit fee was paid.

Mullens Officers Crack Down With 22 Arrests In Two Days

Mullens police jailed 22 people over a two day period with 15 arrests by state police. Among those jailed were three Alabama men charged with attacking a man and two men held for auto theft. Several individuals faced counts of drunkenness with fines or jail terms. A street altercation near D Antoni's drew witnesses and led to charges of assault.

Pair Confesses To Auto Thefts In Mercer County

Lelan Verri Kennard, 22, of Missouri alias James Cole, and Freeman Donahue of Hotchkiss confessed to stealing a 1942 Buick wagon found burned near Mullens last week. They also admitted taking a 1939 Mercury with California plates held in Mullens. Arson charges await Wyoming County Grand Jury action. The Buick was owned by Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Clyde Bourne of Princeton.
