William Sherman Phillips 53 of Meadow Bridge was found drowned in Meadow Creek after noon yesterday. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Meadow Bridge church with Rev. J. N. Taylor officiating. burial in Patton cemetery. Coroner Dr. H. C. Martin ruled death accidental after an inquest at Nickell Funeral Home. Survived by wife Opal, mother Ellen, daughter Mildred, three brothers Gordon, Cat, Frank, and three sisters Ellen Graham, Betty Wilt, Pauline Jones.

Father Slays Wife and Two Sons in Southbridge
In Southbridge Massachusetts Chris Sortir an optical worker faced arraignment on a murder charge for the stabbing deaths of his wife Lena 22 and two sons a four year old and a 40 day old baby. The infant died later at Harrington Memorial Hospital from a fractured skull. Medical exam says wife died from stab wounds and son from abdominal wounds. Sortir claimed he lost his head after police found him near the second floor apartment after a neighbor alerted authorities.
