Book-Binding Plan Faces Opposition in State Penitentiary
West Virginia librarians oppose Chauncey Browning Jr’s plan to establish book-binding at Moundsville Penitentiary arguing prisoners cannot achieve professional quality. Miss Virgina Dober and Miss Jane Brugger warn it may not save money or suit libraries, urging alternatives like wood-working. Browning proceeds, with an $80,000 equipment contract under review and plans to reconvene with critics.
