A. C. Spurr of Fairmont, president of the Monongahela Power Co., urged immediate action to promote West Virginia industry. Speaking at the West Virginia Industrial Conference at West Virginia University, he said the meeting should be a springboard to a united state-wide program and noted the state is well positioned to attract new industry but faces keen competition. The conference, sponsored by the University and the Industrial and Publicity Commission, will gather leaders from industry education and communities to plan location and development of new payrolls. Dr. R. W. Coleman will open the sessions, with Governor William C. Marland and Andrew V. Ruckman among speakers.
