Fayette Parents Fined in Fayette County Truancy Charges

Fayette County magistrates fined 11 parents for truancy as reported by G. L. Hinchey attendance director. Sidewalk Project Halted By Strike

Mullens Mayor J E Orr says the sidewalk project by Anderson and Anderson of Princeton stalled due to rail and supply shortages from a Virginia plant amid a coal strike. Work on Holroyd Avenue neared completion but requires final repairs. The 3,800 foot walk from Deegan Avenue to South Mullens will connect town sections once supplies arrive.

Mullens Acts to Curb Speeding Citywide

Mullens mayor ordered police steps to curb speeding after complaints from residents across the city. At the council meeting, G N Kidd and Vic Hayhurst challenged bus line drivers in South Mullens and discussed Sycamore Avenue parking changes to relieve flooding and pedestrian danger.

Two Car Wrecks Probed Near Glen Jean

Fayetteville Fayette County State Police investigate two car wrecks near Glen Jean last night. A 1942 sedan and a 1936 sedan collided about a quarter mile beyond Glen Jean on the road to Mount Hope. A third car overturned on the main highway while police were at the scene. the driver and license plates were recovered. All three vehicles were towed to an Oak Hill garage as Troopers F. F. Springer and W. R. Callaghan pursue the case.

Funeral for Mullens infant in Dixon Cemetery

A brief funeral and burial were held at Dixon Cemetery on Mullens Hill today for the stillborn daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rose of Amigo. The infant was born at 7:30 am Wednesday at the Rose home and is survived by the parents and a seven year old brother, Marvin.

Kuhn's Nephew Dies From Burns

Robert E. Kuhn of Oceana High School learns of the death of his 26 year old nephew Cecil Shelton Jr of Wheeling from burns after he slipped into hot metal in a Wheeling plant. Fifty percent of his body showed second and third degree burns. He was married with one child. Funeral set for 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Worrell Named Administrator in Senter Estate Case

W. C. Worrell appointed administrator of the W. Clyde Senter estate after Wyoming County Bar Association approval. Bond set at 1000 with C. S. Worrel as surety. The report lists other bond approvals for local estate and guardianship matters, including Fred E. Snyder Roy D. Harless Nannie Barnes and Paul Goode as sheriff. Mullens City Election June 11 Meeting News

Mass meetings for the People's ticket and the Citizen's ticket are set for 7 p.m. at Mullens City Hall with Baren Toler as chairman tonight and Bill Holroyd tomorrow. Filing deadlines are 30 days after the mass meetings. City manager plan and charter board will appear on the June 11 ballot. mayor J. E. Orr and councilmen may run again if their parties win.

Navy family notes son Jackie Kelly coxswain aboard the U S S Wakefield is due home on the west coast around May 10 after leaving Guam April 27. He will be discharged at Bainbridge Maryland with about 7000 others. His brother Edwin Kelly arrived in Europe for second enlistment with the First Army Constabt Squadron Division.

Injured In Fall In Clear Fork Man Fractures Collarbone

Phillip Conley a 28 year old resident of Clear Fork suffered injuries from a fall on Tuesday. He was taken to Wylie Hospital where doctors found a fractured clavicle. He was discharged the next day.

Concord College Leader Donates to Wyoming Trade School Fund

Virgil H. Stewart, president of Concord College and former Wyoming schools official, contributed 25 to the Wyoming Trade School Scholarship Fund. He previously served as treasurer of the fund while residing in Pineville with his family. Mrs. Stewart visited relatives and friends in Pineville on Tuesday.
