The Boone County Crippled Children Society reports fundraising and aid efforts including scholarships totaling over 1350 dollars for local teachers and children. The group provides wheel chairs braces and corrective shoes, ships several to summer camp, and plans operations for disabled individuals. Rodgers Anniversary Honored at Dinner in Mount Hope

Fayetteville reports Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Rodgers celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner at their Mount Hope home hosted by their daughter Mrs. Wilson Ward of Charleston and son R. E. Rodgers of Columbus Ohio. The couple, longtime Fayette County residents, have five living children. Mrs. Houston Wendell, former Mrs. Henry Hoffer, was guest of honor at a luncheon honoring her Mrs. Southern Minnie Alice Hoffer title from West Virginia. Fayetteville Junior Woman's Club staged the event and awarded a $100 bond to the club for her victory.

Part-Time Police Officer Hired M Oceana Town Council Meeting

The Oceana Town Council fired a part time police officer Monday night at regular session in Town Hall. Hoover, applicant for the 30th, will work evenings and week. The council approved purchase of hose for the Oceana Fire Department. A director for the city park was discussed with no decision. The zoning and planning committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in City Hall.

Whitesville Boy Scouts Hold Court of Honor Ceremony

Whitesville Troop No. 33 held its first Court of Honor this year at the Scout Building. City Employes Feted With Dinner By Mayor

Oak Hill mayor H C Brown hosted a steak dinner for 43 city employees at the Hotel Hill. He praised the workers for fine work and cooperation. Laverty Service Conducted Today in Saxon Church

Funeral services for William Alfred Laverty 77 were to be held at 2 p.m. today at Star Methodist Church Saxon with Rev. Wadé Webb and Rev. Virgil Cook officiating. Burial followed at Massey Cemetery. Laverty died Sunday night at his son Clarence’s home in Saxon. Junior Odd Fellows Lodge Set for Installation

Oak Higl reports final plans for a Junior Odd Fellows Lodge No. 206 in the city. Boys aged 12 through 18 are invited to a second organizational meeting at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at the East Main Street lodge hall where charter members will be received and officers installed. Johnson Rites Set Wednesday

Funeral services for Lawrence Johnson 68 of Allen Junction will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Mount Groves Baptist Church Wyco with burial in Greenwood Cemetery Beckley. He was a retired farmer who last worked at the Wyco mine in 1950 and died Saturday in a Mullens hospital. The body lies in state at Robertson and Foglesong Funeral Home until the service.
