Minden Pupils Showcase Science At Annual Fair
Pupils from first through eighth grades at Minden Elementary under Principal R W Williams demonstrated an interest in science at an annual fair. The school, a National Science Foundation pilot, features group study tools including a bioscope and a large laboratory sink. Judges Harold Morrison and D H Caldwell praised the exhibits and described many displays as very good.

Smith For Governor Rally Planned at MHHS Gymnasium
Mount Hope High School students form a Smith For Governor Club and will hold a 7 p.m. rally in the school gymnasium on Wednesday. Kenneth Pack Jr. is named club chairman and the public is invited. After school Thursday the club will canvass Mount Hope distributing Smith literature door to door.

New President Leads Wyoming County Board Meeting
C F Mundy, new president, opened the Pineville session with a motion for a five percent teacher raise, estimated at about 65000 annually. The board unanimously backed the raise if funds are available in July when the budget is set, and considered building an office for up to 50000. A new lot beside the Presbyterian Church was chosen for the site, with plans by local architects Zando Martin and Millstead. Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, wife of Woodrow Wilson, was a Pocahontas descendant.
