U S and South Vietnam strike North Viet Nam base
UPI reports U S and South Vietnamese jets attacked the Dong Hoi air base 65 miles north of the border in the first Vietnam war attack on a Communist air facility. About 15 American jets led a strike followed by 24 Skyraiders bombing runways depots hangars and barracks. Both sides said the raid damaged but returned safely. Chinese agency claimed several planes shot down.

Cop Held For Beating Own Child To Death
Alexandria policeman Larry Lantz 23 is free on 5000 bond after being charged with murder in the death of his seven month old daughter Valerie Ann Lantz. The infant died Saturday from multiple fractures after an apparent beating. Lantz had recently lived in Clarksburg West Virginia and had resigned to join Washington D C police.
