Inexperience Still Old Astros Prospect Report 1965
The ninth leg of the 1965 prospects notes Houston’s Astros face a familiar issue: few major league ready players. New manager Luman Harris stresses patience as star players are scarce, hoping a crop of minors and rookies like Danny Coombs, Larry Dierker, Rusty Staub, Jim Wynn, and Joe Morgan will develop into contributors while the 1964 ninth-place finish looms over a domed stadium era.

Kline credits Hodges for humane pitching management
Pompano Beach, Fla. (UPI) Ronnie Kline, with 13 years in the majors and 10-7 with a 2.33 ERA last season, praises Washington manager Gil Hodges for treating pitchers like humans and giving them rest. He says Hodges’ approach contrasts with eight prior skippers who overworked relievers and cites Hodges’ broken-in trust after a routine outfield miscue that earned a sharp team rebuke.
