Miss Jackie Hayworth of Beckley was elected vice president of the Sigma Sigma sorority at Concord College. She has served as cor corner vice president and corresponding secretary for 1050-81, and will assume office on April 1.
Beckley College sorority plans a Sadie Hawkins dance to honor a member. A March 31 reception was hosted on South Heber Street with Gloria Ellison, Cleo Renit, Mare] Sampson, Mary Kambouris, Lula Soter, Freda Sot, Ruth Akers, Joann Coleman, Doris Dacel, Betty Rorrer, Loretta Haddad and others listed. The event included a pre nuptial shower for the honoree.
Bethlehem Chapter No. Wa Order of the Eastern Star announces Past Officers Night at its March 21 meeting. Local OFS Officers Club held a pre event at Park Street home of Mrs. Rosetta Flint with Miss Virginia Cooper assisting. Prizes and a St Patrick motif featured among readings and devotions by Miss Casper.

A Portsmouth Virginia birth notice reports a daughter Dianne weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces born Friday March 10 at 10 p.m. to Mr and Mrs Charles Wood, formerly Jeanetta McCormick of Beaver.
The Mountain State Twins Club hosted a square and round dance from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Beckley Masonic Temple attracting 74 residents. The Stacy Twins led music and a long list of attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stacey, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stacey, Ruth and Ruby Short, Dora and Kathleen Babblett, plus many more.
The Business Women's Circle of Beckley Presbyterian Church will meet this evening at 6 15 in the Swan Cafe basement. Mrs W C Kautz chairwoman announced the dinner meeting has been moved from the church.
Mrs. Ivan Thompson hosted a Crab Orchard party Friday night honoring Ferne Thompson on her 13th birthday. Guests from Crab Orchard and MacArthur joined games and a refreshment course as the celebration concluded.
The Blue Jay Woman's Society of Christian Church will host a benefit ham supper on March 28. Mrs. Marie Pettry led the program on Japan Today and Tomorrow, with prayers by Mrs. Maude Payne and talks by Mrs. Art Carter and Miss Ruth Payne. Mrs. Walter Hart gave the closing prayer.
Beckley Jr High to stage the 1930 Minstrel and Song Revue on Wednesday at 8 pm in the Big School auditorium to accommodate Beckley Gauley Bridge regional basketball on Thursday. About 209 students perform with a large minstrel chorus and an extended list of cast and ushers.
Mrs. Harry Anderson wins endorsement from the Raleigh County Auxiliary for sixth district auxiliary president. The session also opposed a proposed compulsory health plan and raised funds for the Cancer Fund and Red Cross. More than 75 members attended the Legion birthday celebration with hostesses, cake, talks, and a buffet supper.
Beckley art group hosts a weekly sketch session with its 7:30 pm meeting at the Raleigh County Library Memorial Building. Members gather for informal drawing in conjunction with tonight’s group gathering.
Crusaders Class of the First Methodist Church announces committees for a spaghetti dinner to fund chairs for the parish hall. Mrs Reginald Meyers chairs the event with multiple subcommittees handling tables tickets settings and kitchen work. Dinner runs 5 30 to 7 30 pm in the parish hall.
