How To Celebrate Safe Sane Fourth
Red white and blue meals can be a barbecue treat for a safe and sane Fourth of July. Try ham steak sizzled over wood charcoal briquets creamy potato salad blueberry pie or grilled hamburgers with blue cheese and pimiento strips. A red checked paper tablecloth sets a festive air. Sparklers lend white magic to the blue twilight hours and can be lighted in the rosy embers of a charcoal fire.
Pyramid grilling speeds charcoal ignition in all briquets
A cooking note explains placing wood charcoal briquets in a pyramid shape to start the fire faster. Heat rises through the pyramid to all briquets, after which the chef should spread briquets evenly with tongs or a poker for uniform grilling.
