Harvey boy wins appointment to Annapolis Naval Academy
Jon V. Harvey 17, son of James O. and Mrs. Harvey, Army Chemical Center Maryland, earns a presidential nomination and a midshipman appointment to the U S Naval Academy. He will report July 1 and take the oath, after completing a competitive exam. He is Bel Air High School 1955 graduate and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a year. His father has 27 years in the Army. Mrs. Harvey is the former Beulah Hatcher. TheHarveys live at 217 Teel Road.

VOR Navigation Aid to Be Built at Memorial Airport
A new VOR radio navigation station will start July 1 at Memorial Airport to aid civilian, commercial, and military pilots. Civil Aeronautics Administration engineer Thomas Gordon oversees construction, with material from Oklahoma and a government-only funding model. The 20 by 36 foot building will house a 52 foot roof diameter and a nine foot shelter with an antenna, operated automatically with its own generator for power outages.

Davis Services Set On Saturday for Mrs E J Davis
Funeral services for Mrs. E J Davis will be held at 9 am Saturday at St Francis de Sales Church with Fr Paul V Helsley. Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Park. She died at her son J Davis Jr.s home in Sophia after living in Stotesbury and Sophia. Surviving are three daughters, three sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The body remains at Williams Funeral Home in Sophia until service hour.
