Real estate firm Blackburn Patteson Realty buys Harvey and Prudence coal towns from Morris Harvey College for about $100,000. The 188 acre site with 163 houses and two stores will be developed into tract homes mostly for current residents. Some vacant lots will be sold. Norman H Staples rites set at Tyree funeral home

Funeral services for Norman H Staples 66 of Oak Hill will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home with the American Legion in charge and Rev Shirley Donnelly officiating. Mullens to Survey for New Street Signs and Traffic Lights

A four man committee appointed by Mayor Joe E. Orr will survey needed street signs to aid postal delivery in Mullens. B. T. Hash of the Chamber of Commerce asked for sufficient signs and post officials to proceed with purchasing. Police Chief J. Howard Griffith urged traffic lights at First Street and Howard Avenue and Second Street and Guy Andotte Avenue, plus more fixed signs citywide.
