Registration for the fourteenth annual World Wide Guild meeting began at 2 p m at the First Baptist church with about 200 delegates expected. Sessions start at 8 a m tomorrow with state officers including Virginia Mittendorf and Elizabeth McCandless. Miner Bravely Breaks Leg to Save Buddy in Mine
C D Bragg 25 splinted his own broken leg and drove a motor from underground to summon help for Marvin Davis, 25, trapped beneath slate in the Oakwood mine of New River company. Bragg rigged splints, tied legs, piloted the motor to the mouth and then to the shaft bottom, delivering Davis to hospital ahead of him. Both men faced about six weeks in the hospital for injuries including Bragg's broken leg and Davis's fractured pelvis.

McAlister Okla June 19 Arth ur Gooch 27 convicted kidnaper of two Texas officers was hanged at the state prison first person executed for kidnapping under the Lindbergh law. The trap sprang at 5 06 am Gooch walked to the gallows and died fifteen minutes later. He bid farewell to his six year old son Billy Joe urging him not to get into trouble. Charles E. Ross aged 58 of Johnstown road died at Beckley hospital at 10:30 a m today from chest injuries after a fall at Kopper's mine in Stanaford on June 1. He worked for Koppers mines thirteen years and moved to Stamaford last February. Born in Kanawha County, he is survived by his widow Anna Fix Ross, daughter Mrs Charles H Hoffman of McClure Street, and son Orville Bay of Johnstown Road.
