Charleston Area Scouts Open Camporee in Fayette Tonight

Oak Hill report says over 1,000 Charleston Area Council Scouts from nine Southern West Virginia counties gather at Fayette County 4 H camp for a three day camporee. District campfires lead to a grand campfire Saturday with ribbons and awards Sunday as Henry G. Shires presides.

Oak Hill couple Jean L Morton and Jimmie C Ford were married June 7 at Christ Methodist Church Charleston officiated by Dr Joseph Clare Hoffman. Jean, a Oak Hill Floral Shop employee and Oak Hill High School graduate, wore a grey suit with pink rose corsage. Jimmie, son of Mr and Mrs P D Ford of Oak Hill, is a Marshall College student and 85th Army Division veteran.

Oak Hill Employee Held For Theft From Garage

Charles Sylbosky of Oak Hill, 244, charged with feloniously stealing $85 from the Godfrey garage in East End. He was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and held in Oak Hill jail until a Saturday hearing. Officers L Ku Toney and Charlie Bowles assisted.

Wylie Re elected Leader of West Virginians Group

Dr Ward Wylie was re elected president of the Wyoming County Chapter of the West Virginians Inc in Mullens at the annual meeting. Officers named include William Holroyd as vice president and Ray Toler as secretary. Samuel Pinion Morgantown executive secretary spoke on scholarship aims and the shift from athletics to supporting WVU students.

Dance Proceeds Aid Illness Stricken Youths In Wyoming County

Proceeds from a Mullens High School dance fundraiser benefit the Wyoming County sight handicapped school. Lions Club members host the event with Concord Commanders providing music from 9 to 6. The Clover Dance label invites dancers to wear four leaf clovers for protection.

After 23 years apart G A Seeley a Virginian Railway foreman will meet his brother Wirt D Seeley of New York City in Mullens for a first visit to the Seeley home. Wirt a mechanical engineer with a New York heating firm plans to stay over the weekend.

Mrs Mounts fractures hip in fall downstairs

Mrs Harry Mounts is hospitalized at Raleigh General Hospital with a fractured right hip after a fall on the stairs at her West Malens home. The accident happened about 2 30 in the morning as she rose to pack a lunch for her husband, an engineer for the Virginian Railway Company.

Moose Women Honor Girls State Delegate At Meeting

Mullens chapter of Women of the Moose honored Miss Billy Jean Ziegler daughter of Mrs Garnet Ziegler Price for being named Girls State delegate. She will attend a week at Jacksons Mill encampment, leaving Sunday. The group planned a banquet at Moose Hall for Black Eagle Coal Company officials and guests. Rites Slated Today For Arnold Child

Funeral services for Patricia Ann Arnold aged 18 months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Arnold, will be at Matheney Chapel at 2 p m. The child died after swallowing lye at Beckley Hospital, where she had been admitted Saturday, passing away at 6 20 p m Wednesday. Also noted are brief business visits by R D Bailey and C S Worrell in Beckley.
