Beckley Newspapers unveils a new unitype press named Charley, replacing the old Cranston drum cylinder. The 36 by 11 foot two story machine prints 64 pages at 42,000 an hour and includes a $200,000 expansion with modern editorial rooms. It will print in black white and three other colors.

Fayette Fracas Hospitalizes Two Elderly Women
Fayetteville RNS reports two elderly Summerslee women were hospitalized after a fight at the Mitchell home. Myrtle Taylor, 65, is in critical condition at a Montgomery hospital with a .32 revolver gunshot wound to the left side. Rosa B. Mitchell, 75, is at Oak Hill Hospital with a fractured skull. Deputies Buddy Crouch and Fred O Boyle noted the two were usually friends and quoted Taylor as saying I shot me, so I hit her with a poker.

Retrial Ordered In Wyoming Case
The Wyoming County conviction of Ivan Daniel for unlawfully wounding Officer Walter Hinkle was set aside by the Supreme Court on technical grounds. A Raleigh County Grand Jury failed to indict three Beckley youths over removing a tombstone from Wildwood Cemetery and placing it on Woodrow Wilson High School lawn. Leonard Clifton Auldridge 61 of Prince died at 10:30 a m today in a local hospital after a six month illness. Born July 6 1898 in Hillsboro he was the son of Oliver Auldridge and the late Eliza Rodgers Auldridge. Auldridge worked for Chesapeake and Ohio Railway as depot agent at Mabscott and Prince for about 20 years. Survivors include wife Dottie Richmond Auldridge two sons George A New Buffalo Mich and Leonard C Jr New Britain Conn a daughter Martha Frances Frye Morgantown two stepdaughters Barbara Knuckles Hyattsville Md and Anna Rodgers Beckley a sister Dr Lily Holliday Goldenrod Fla and eight grandchildren. The body remains at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home pending arrangements.

Dr Arthur Evan Beckett longtime Huntington Methodist pastor died of a heart attack in New York at 58 while visiting friends. He led Huntington churches and appeared on television as a religious counselor. He served in Beckley Richwood and Morgantown and coached civic religious activities. He leaves wife and three children plus two sisters and four grandchildren. The news follows his recent scheduling to begin a 16th year at Huntington Church as the naval officer family heads to Formosa.
