Beckley Street Sweeper Clears 400 Miles Monthly
Street Commissioner D. E. Warden says Beckley uses a 1958 model sweeper that averages 400 miles of street cleaning per month at about 1000 dollars in operating costs including depreciation. Debris is dumped on private property with permission at Prince St Harper Road and Willow Lane. The machine uses two large brooms over a belt to hold four cubic yards of rubbish and requires a new large broom after every 200 miles.
