Mrs N L Kemp of the Mount Hope Federated League announces the club has sold 54070 in savings stamps and nine 25 bonds this year. Eleven members sold stamps each Tuesday morning from 8 30 to 9 at the school. The stamp drive is the club annual project.

In a single-ring ceremony at 7 p m Saturday Jane G Vaught became the bride of Keith Acord before Rev Carl Payne in the Vaught home living room with immediate family present. The bride wore an off white knit shift dress with a V neck. her sister in law wore a blue two piece suit. A dinner followed and the couple left for an undisclosed destination. The bride, a Glen Rogers High School graduate active in Tri-Hi-Y Future Homemakers of America Band and theater, will move to Cleveland with her husband.

Youth Killed in Cyclone One-Car Wreck
A one-car crash on Route 10 at Cyclone at about 8 am killed 16 year old George Richard Wooten and injured 17 year old Teddy J. Blankenship. The car split on impact with a tree in a curve. cornering skid marks were 206 feet. Blankenship was hospitalized with a broken pelvis and other injuries. no charges filed pending investigation.

Ver non Stanley, a West Virginia Tech senior, received a three year NASA PhD fellowship. He will graduate this Sunday with a B S in electrical engineering and will study at the University of Missouri funded by tuition and a $10 000 book and living expense stipend. Stanley, son of Mr and Mrs Emmett W Stanley of Alexandria Virginia, taught technical trigonometry and solid geometry in his final year and was a member of Alpha Eta and the IEEE. After the fellowship he plans to pursue research or teaching at a college.

Fire damages Oceana home. $8,000 loss estimated
A fire at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday caused about $8,000 damage to the residence of Mr and Mrs Ralph Hicks in Oceana. An exploding hot water heater woke the family, fire spreading to two bedrooms on each side. the rest of the house and contents were heavily damaged. No one was injured. the Hicks family now lives with Mrs Hicks parents in Clear Fork.
