Gunfire Stops Theft of Cash at Crab Orchard Station
A 25-year-old Crab Orchard man, Junior Miller, was wounded in a back window break in at Jimmy’s Texaco Service Station in Crab Orchard at 1 30 a m. He is charged with entering the station which held about $2 000 in accounts. Owner Arthur Elliott shot to stop the thief, injuring Miller’s left leg. Elliott alerted Deputy Sheriff Mason Farley who arranged hospital care. The incident follows the station’s operator James R Roles of Coal City. Also in Las Vegas an atomic test slated for pre dawn was postponed 48 hours due to weather and radiation risk.

In Eastern and Central Korea, more than 4,000 North Korean and Chinese Reds attacked 11 Allied positions and outposts.
