Oak Hill Pony Ginger Wins at Second Annual Show

Oak Hill rider Jimmy Whitlock rode Ginger to first place in the pony class at Thompson's Stables in a Rotary Club hosted show. Amber Star and other horses earned ribbons in junior five gaited and other divisions as Dr. C H Wilmoth of Oak Hill led the strong Oak Hill presence with multiple top placements.

Mullens Mrs Donnie Claburn Dies En Route to Doctor

Mrs Donnie Claburn 48 of McGraws died unexpectedly at about 3 am while en route to a Glen Rogers doctor in her brother's car. Born December 7 1900 Tipple native, she was daughter of O J and wife J W Claburn survives with five sons and four daughters. Funeral home is Robertson Foglesong Mullens. Survivors include five brothers and four sisters.

Stewart and Fisher Elected Mayors in Pineville and Oceana

Vaughan Stewart remains Pineville mayor and C. C. Fisher is newly elected Oceana mayor after municipal elections. Pineville approved a three year street and sewer levy. incumbents were re-elected to council and recorder races. Oceana results show Fisher with 142 votes and other contenders listed. several council seats also filled by incumbents and others.
