$80,000 Market Improvement Program In State

Charleston WV—West Virginia will spend about 80 thousand dollars on a farm market improvement program. Agriculture Commissioner John T. Johnson says the aim is to move farmers produce to central points in large volumes to attract buyers. Projects include a cooling unit at Weston, packing and grading gear at Inwood, sizing and tomato handling at Beckley, and washing and grading equipment at Elkins and Parsons. Research on spray residues will support future laboratory capability in the Eastern Panhandle. Plans for further funding will be sought in the 1957 Legislature.
