Sophia Baptist Choir outing at Grafiew Grandview State Park featured hymn singing around a campfire. The 30 member group, directed by Mr and Mrs P H McClure, enjoyed a wiener roast and water melon feast Friday evening.
Miss Margaret Bonner bride elect of Orville Ballengee draws a miscellaneous shower hosted by Mrs. R. E. Bonner at the Piney View home. Prizes go to Mrs. Owen Gillespie and Miss Helen Diehl as guests mingle with a long list of attendees including Mrs. John McDaniel and Mrs. Grace Edwards who visits from Boonville Indiana.
Mrs. Gilbert Thompson will chair the hostess committee for the Friendship Class gathering at First Christian Church Monday night at 7:39. The meeting location is the church itself.
Mrs L B Souder and Mrs A R Allen revived a farm style project behind Scott Avenue to make two batches of cinnamon flavored apple butter. They say it is the first time in over twenty years they have undertaken such a preserve. Apples on nearby lots had been going to waste and inspired the effort to save the harvest.
Theirs Was a two-woman operation producing 52 quarts of apple butter. Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Lilly used an antique 75 year old kettle to simmer apples with sugar, oil of cinnamon, and peach seeds for non sticking. Neighbors dropped by for samples as the project wrapped.
