Corridor 9 Favored for I-64 Route North Beckley Area
The State Road Commission hearing heard support for Corridor 9 north of Beckley as the preferred I-64 alignment from the I-77 corridor to Bragg School. Corridor 9 would cross Piney Creek Gorge with higher structures but offers greater traffic service and a higher benefit ratio than Corridor 3. Economic analysis shows Corridor 9 costing about 32.3 million versus 16.8 million for Corridor 3, yet yielding far greater user savings and traffic volumes status.
