Rubber wage pact boosts union goals at Firestone plants
The Firestone and Goodrich accords remove pay differentials between tire and non-tire workers. At General Tire no non-tire workers were involved. Tire workers averaged 3.68 dollars an hour versus 2.68 for non-tire workers under prior contracts. The deals add an 80 percent supplemental unemployment benefit and raise pension payments from 3.25 to 5.50 dollars per year of service.
