Vacation Bible School Closes With Camp Prize Draws
A total of 95 children attended the Vacation Bible School at the Fire Church of God Sophia ending with a Beckley Park picnic on the last school day. Ruth Ann Sears and Carolyn Davis, both 13 and 12, earned free trips to the Church of God Youth Camp at Glenwood Park Mercer County next month on a point system for attendance class work and scripture memorization.

Beating Suspects 16-Year-Old Beckley Youth Held
A 16-year-old Beckley boy faced arraignment before Juvenile Court Judge Harry L. McCreery after police charged him with beating two teens with a board. Arrested Monday at 5 p.m., the youth was held in Raleigh County Jail pending further proceedings. One victim required hospital treatment after the Friday and Monday incidents.
