Edward Dawson of Akron sought a 2.5 percent early payment discount on property on Harper Road. The May statement from S. Taylor arrived, Dawson sent the funds by special delivery but arrived two months late, so only accrued interest and the discount were lost. Underwood Infant Rites Set for Tomorrow
Funeral services are planned for Rita Sue Underwood infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Willard E Underwood of Shady Springs. The Rev E W Powers of Beaver will conduct at Shady Spring Baptist Church with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. The body remains at Keyser Funeral Home in state until the service. Surviving are paternal grandparents Waller Underwood of Shady Spring and maternal grandparents Winford Daniel of Lester. The mother is Hope Daniel formerly of Beckley.

Gas Line Fire Causes No Damage In Beckley
Beckley Fire Department extinguished a burning gas line at 7 50 this morning with no damage. Fire Chief Ber hard Martin said the line was broken when Robert D. Smith of 303 Hall Street backed his car into it. The gas ignited from a nearby hot water tank.

Freeman in Better Health After Nervous Collapse
J O Freeman Beckley contractor and city councilman improved this morning says Dr M C Banks of Raleigh after Freeman collapsed at his Main Street office yesterday. Blood pressure high overwork caused nervous condition and he is confined to bed for the rest of the week. Freeman 7th year city council member lives 400 South Oakwood Avenue.

Two Auto Collisions Lead to $400 In Damages
State Police reported two Wednesday night crashes causing about $400 in damage and two arrests. John Henry Marsh of Stamford faced reckless driving after his vehicle struck Don A. Bailey of Stanford and Bobby Richard Smith of Tains near Piney View. Basil Pittman of Glen White was charged with driving on the wrong side on the Bob Glen Rogers road. he was fined after arraignment.
