The six day old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alby Morrison, Mary, of Harvey, is reported to have burns covering portions of her body on Wednesday. The burns are classified as second and third degree and the cause could not be learned.
In Clear Creek a two story frame house owned by Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Scarbro burned early Monday. origin undetermined with neighbors saying Scarbro was in Ohio and his wife absent. In Pineville Sonny Morgan again lost his nine room Route 52 home near Hanover to a Saturday fire, a repeat event after a prior blaze at Guyan.
Funeral services for 68 year old Mrs. Dimmie Hester Kincaid of Fayetteville will be held at Tyree Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Norman Foster officiating. Burial is in High Lawn Memorial Park Oak Hill. Mrs. Kincaid died Tuesday afternoon after an extended illness.
Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce reports 1957 gains with 13 paid members and plans 1958 drive to recruit at least 10 new dues-paying firms. President Hamilton cites funding limits, urges local government and businesses to support efforts while pushing road projects and a possible Route 21 bypass to ease traffic and boost Fayette County’s economy.
Pineville Castle Rock Bank held its annual meeting Tuesday naming B. E. Crews as president. Elected VPs were C. S. Worrell and C. Cassinelli. Dymple Ball and Gilmer Hines were named assistant cashiers. Directors elected include Robert Bailey Campbell W. C. Bailey Jr. Cassinelli Crews Worrell E. M. Curry J. S. Lambert C. W. Murphy Dr. F. H. Penn C. Smith and Cecil L. White.
Forty eight members attended the Oak Hill Rotary Club dinner at Hotel Hill Tuesday. Don Miller and Phillip Coats of the Bureau of Internal Revenue Beckley were guest speakers discussing Federal Income tax provisions and minor changes in 1010 and 2106 forms with tax problem suggestions.
The Hi Y and Tri Hi Y at Collins High School elected delegates to simulate state government in Charleston for one day. Delegates include Sue Slaven Katherine Rickard Barbara Gillespie and Barney Stinnett Buck Bryan Gene Carroll with alternates Sue Crone Nancy Lively Linda Dorton and Jack Pettit Rex Adams. They will train at Concord College before Charleston visit and plan to raise funds for the March of Dimes with a telethon at the local radio station February 1 while studying four active bills before the Legislature.
Dr. Cyril Reid, chemistry professor at the University of British Columbia, says the West lags Russia in education. He tells a discussion group that children learn too early that formal schooling is not necessary for a comfortable life.

Lt William L Norton graduates associate officer course at Fort Benning with wife Katherine in Beckley. A1 Damian C Bower of Long Branch serves with Lackland and Lack C Bowyerland AFB Texas. Bowyer earned basic training at Lackland in 1957 and to Memphis Airport for firefighter training. Orlando Brooks Mullens and John Clay Page listed as honor squadron members.
