Court Disposes 14 Cases in Two Days
In Fayette the circuit court disposed of fourteen cases in two days. J R Martin vs Felix Benl resulted in a $300 award to the plaintiff for injuries from an automobile collision. Several cases were settled or default judgments entered, with five civil trials set for Monday January 9 including George Taylor versus George Crowe and Iva Legg versus Luther Pettry.

Mullens Man Hurt in Wreck Near Pineville
N Kidd 65 of South Mullens is hospitalized in Beckley after a car crash near Pineville around 1 PM yesterday. He sustained two fractured ribs and possible lung injury. he jumped from the vehicle before it plunged over an embankment en route to Brenton. His son Richard reports steering failure as the cause. Kidd was treated in Pineville then moved by ambulance to Raleigh General Hospital.

Fund Raising Events Planned by Junior Woman Club
The Jr Woman's Club of Mullens schedules a square dance on January 28 at West Mullers Clubhouse and two basketball games next month with visitors against Walker's Esso and Moose teams. A February spaghetti dinner is discussed, while March 23 24 set for the three act play Aunt Lilly. A box supper and basket walk will accompany the dance, groceries for the basket, and donations to a Braille school in Africa and a state scholarship fund. The club also funds a March of Dimes drive by totaling members ages in pennies.
