Russians Seek U.S. Embassy Protection in Moscow Rescue Drama
Thirty two Russian men women and children forced entry into the U S Embassy compound in Moscow seeking asylum from religious persecution. Embassy officials turned them over to Soviet authorities after hours long tense exchanges and warnings from plainclothesmen. The group, from Chernogrosk in Siberia, said authorities would arrest believers after January 1. They were later taken to a hotel near the station.
