Tax cut plans target lowBracket split and revenue impact
Informed sources discuss splitting the lowest bracket for singles from zero to 1000 and 1000 to 2000 while keeping the 20 percent rate on the first 2000. Married filers’ first 4000 taxed at 20 percent. A 10 percent across the board cut would yield small personal gains for low earners but large revenue losses, with high earners gaining about 3000 yearly.
