Mullens Fire Chief Probes $125000 Theater Blaze

Fire Chief Clifford Phillips began an investigation into a Monday blaze that gutted the two story Wyoming Theater and damaged adjacent buildings in Mullens. The $125000 loss affected the theater and nearby structures while 50 moviegoers escaped unharmed.

Auto Victim's Rites Wednesday

Funeral services for Gary Lee Napier age nine will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the family home conducted by Rev. Ernie Barley. He died Sunday after being struck by a car near Wingrove. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday for Myra Sue Meek seven month old daughter of James and Myrria Meek of Clear Creek. She died Monday morning en route to Welch hospital. Concert association opens drive for members 1952-53 season

Two Arrested On Theft Count In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE Two men Bert Rice Jr 27 of Garten and James Scruggs held in Fayette Jail on theft of copper wire from Page s mine. Rice admitted going to Robson to see Oran Johnson about money on a car trade but did not see him. They cut and hauled wire from an outside feeder line leaving several large sections. Deputies Gautier and Elmore arrested them after a late night pursuit. No preliminary hearing yet. Mayor Holroyd's Rites Set Thursday for Mullens Mayor

Funeral services for Mullens mayor William M. Holroyd who died Saturday in Phoenix will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Methodist Church Mullens with Rev. O H Dorsey officiating. Burial in Holroyd family cemetery Athens with Mullens Masonic Lodge in charge. The community to close businesses during the hour and flags to fly at half staff. Holroyd served as a practicing attorney and WVU Law graduate, with roots in Concord College and Navy wrestling during WWI. He would have been 52 next month.
