Paul Carpenter of Columbus died in a hospital after injuries from a Sunday airplane crash near Oak Hill. His brother Jack is hospitalized with severe injuries from the same crash. Paul formerly worked with New River Music Company of Oak Hill and held a private pilot license earned in Florida.

Frances Vernon 86 a Mount Hope resident who drove the mail route in a Model T for about 30 years died at her home after years of declining health. Surviving are four daughters two sons 27 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 pm at the Mount Hope Christian Church with burial in Highlawn Memorial Park Oak Hill. The Colling Funeral Home Glen Jean is handling arrangements.
