At a meeting of the American Legion the junior team manager reported 86 boys showing interest with 14 to be chosen at tryouts next week. A seven member committee will raise funds for a drive ending March 20 and 21 with a school auditorium play by local talent.

Bad Weather Cuts Area Coal Output
In Mullens area mines during the first half of February heavy winter weather reduced coal output by 24 400 tons compared with the same period a month earlier. About 825 500 tons were loaded for the month thus far and 621 850 tons were carried in the 13 day half week. Virginian Railway records show 12 437 cars loaded in the first half of February with 9 079 to tidewater ports and 3 033 shipped inland.
