Construction move and new facility planned for spring 1958
Mayor Bernard Racke oversaw a $600,000 improvement series last week at the site. The frame lease was relocated along the street and the adjacent building will be kept by the company as a garage and store room. Griefe and Datey designed the building to house central office equipment serving 1,080 offsite subscribers.

John Wayne, 83, Claremont Miner Dies at Home
John Spencer Wayne, 83, of Claremont died at his home at 10 a.m. today after a long illness, death attributed to a heart attack. A retired miner, he was a member of the First Baptist Church at Claremont. Survivors include a brother William of Chesapeake, a sister in Virginia, and a stepson Warren Rogers of Claremont. The body is at Collins Funeral Home in Glen Jean. Arrangements are incomplete.

A defective flu was blamed for a fire that damaged the Robert Hood home at Iroquois about 1:44 PM Monday. The blaze confined to the living room wall and ceiling, neighbors found and controlled it before Mullens firefighters arrived. The Hoods were away at the time.

Injured Lumber Co Worker Hurt by Horse Kick
Earl Hicks 43 of Pineville an employee of Church Brothers Lumber Co. was injured when a horse kicked him late Sunday. He was admitted to Wyoming General Hospital Monday with severe bruises to the chest and lesser injuries to his forehead and nose.
