Last Rites for Gary Kelly Held at Lookout Baptist Church
Funeral services for Gary Herman Kelly 11 will be held at Lookout Baptist Church at 2 pm Saturday with Rev. David Bane officiating. Burial follows in Charlie White Cemetery at Lookout. He was the son of James Kelly Jr. and Mrs. Kelly of Fayetteville and died Wednesday in a Beckley hospital. He attended Gatewood Elementary. survivors include brother Lessie Eugene and sister Brenda Kay at home and maternal grandmother Mrs. Minnie McClanahan of Lookout. The body will be moved from Dodd-Payne Mortuary in Fayetteville to the Kelly residence at 1 pm today and will go to the church an hour before the service.

Ossick Funeral Slated Sunday
Funeral rites for Michael J. Ossick of Oak Hill will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gospel Tabernacle East Oak Hill with Rev. Tommy Akester officiating. Burial will follow at Highlawn Memorial Park. Ossick died Wednesday at 7 p.m. after an extended illness in Beckley Hospital. He was 84, a retired employee of New River and Pocahontas Coal Co. He was born in Austria on December 5, 1890. Surviving are his wife Mary, two sons Michael George of Beckley and John of St. Albans, a daughter Mrs Anna Mauritz of Fayetteville Route 1, three stepsons Dennis Lee Burgess of Oak Hill, Earl Burgess of Aberdeen Maryland, and Harry Burgess of Newport News, two stepdaughters Mrs Juanita Crawford of Summerlee and Mrs Charlotte Deldridge of Whipple, and 11 grandchildren. The body will be taken from Tyree Funeral Home to the church Saturday at 1 p.m. for view prior to the rites.

Pythian Sisters Vote To Aid Heart Fund
Vans Hill ANS reported that Pythian Sisters Temple No. 132 members at a Monday meeting decided to donate to the Heart Fund Drive with each member determining their pledge. A parcel Post party raised funds with $1 wrapped articles sold. Refreshments were served to 31 members. Mrs Esta Hair was reported ill at her Oak Hill home.

$600000 Improvements Scheduled In Mt Hope by Telephone Co
Mount Hope officials break ground on a $600000 expansion by Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co to house an automatic dial central office. The project includes a 39 by 42 foot brick building on Stadium Drive, two six way ducts, and a cable vault to serve 1040 subscribers with plans for Beckley area expansion and more operator positions. Groundbreaking began Thursday with local officials and out of town guests attending.

Funeral services for Allen Workman of Pineville will be held at 2 p m Saturday at Freewill Baptist Church Oceana with Rev Stellie Pare officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery New Richmond Workman 38 a root bolt machine operator was killed in a coal blasting accident Thursday at the Lynco mine of Crozier Coal and Land Co near Oceana. The accident occurred at 457 p m and he died three minutes later. A mine official said a blast in an adjoining place caused the charge to break through into a breakthrough and the concussion killed Workman. This is the first fatality at the Lynco mine since 1951 Over two million tons of coal have been produced in that time. The accident is under investigation by state and federal mine inspectors. Workman was born March 5 in Welch a son of Me and Workman Mullens who survive him. Other survivors include his wife Lucille four children Roy Charles Barbara and Kyte all at home five brothers Hobart New Richmond Willis Keyrock Roby Helen Jack Pembroke Va and Winifred Rockview five sisters Mrs Flossie Green Pineville Mrs Ollie Reed Herndon Mrs Mollie Pugh Mulleris Mrs Harriett Pursue and Mrs Annie Milam both of Matheny. The body will be taken from Evans Funeral Home Oceana to the residence at 7 p m today.
