New Cutback In Nuclear Fuels And Explosives Approved
The Atomic Energy Commission says President Johnson approved a new cut in uranium fuels and explosives production for power plants and weapons. The curtailment begins mid next year and runs through 1969, totaling a 6 percent reduction after last year's 40 percent cut. Body Recovery Effort Underway At Cavern Site
In Dolgeville New York rescue workers drill a 140 foot shaft into a mountain cavern to recover the body of 23 year old cave explorer James Mitchell of Winthrop Massachusetts entombed since Saturday. Mitchell was lowered 80 feet to the cavern floor where he wedged in an 18 inch crevice. State police say the new shaft will let rescuers attach ropes to haul the body upward. Bulldozers cleared trees on the snow covered hill as the team faced dangerous water flows from thawing snow. Surveyors mark the body position while limestone around the cavern may hinder enlarging any test hole.

Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas rode a mountain pony down from Sandia Mountain in New Mexico after a six mile icy ascent and snowbound ordeal. United Press International reports Dick Gregory and seven companions were arrested early today after attempting to register at Selma Alabama Holiday Inn with a warrant charging disorderly conduct. Public Safety Director Wilson Baker said the group refused to leave after the manager stated no reservations were held after 8 p.m. King's voter registration drive drew about 1300 people to the courthouse as he urged continued action. He visited Wilcox and Perry counties, meeting with registrars and staging a sit in at Marion. Governor Johnson defended Mississippi as law abiding while urging critics to stop portraying the state negatively.

Houston doctors plan to separate week old Siamese twins Kimberly and Karen Webber joined at the front from collarbone to navel. Four pediatric surgeons, one cardiovascular surgeon, two anesthesiologists and a 14 member team will conduct the delicate operation.
