World Day of Prayer Service Set at First Methodist Church

The World Day of Prayer service will be held at 7 30 pm Friday at the First Methodist Church with Mrs Woodrow W Cook of the Presbyterian Church leading The theme is The World At Prayer Readers include Betty Jo Hypes Mrs W W Dailey and others from Baptist Presbyterian Episcopalian Catholic Pentecostal Holiness and Methodist churches A committee led by Mrs Carl Moran planned the local service with several named organizers and ushers noted.

Collins Estate Gives Land for High School Site

Fayette County accepts a twenty acre parcel on Page road near Oak Hill as a gift from the Justus Collins estate for a new Collins High School. The facility will include an athletic field and vocational shop funded by the 1945 school bond. A bronze plaque will honor Justus Collins. Also Oak Hill hosts a Sears Roebuck visit February 18 to discuss a potential sweater factory employing 400 to 500 women with West Virginia publicity assistance.

Fayetteville Man Fined In Princeton Drunken Driving Case

Eugene Edward Tuggle of Fayetteville was arraigned before Magister E Dale Bailey in Princeton and fined 50 dollars plus costs after a drunken driving arrest by Princeton state police following a wreck on the Bluefield Princeton road. Mrs W W Dailey and Miss Dorothy Rasnake left for Princeton to stay with the Rasnake family.

Mullens Plans Urgent Upgrade For Sewage and Garbage System

Mullens city council heard two planning commission members push for a modern sewage and garbage disposal system with an incinerator.
