Funeral services for Tony Smith 52 listed death by own action will be held at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel Friday at 10 a m Rev John A Wilson will conduct. Smith died from exploding a stick of dynamite while lying on his back in the sandhouse of the Minden mines. Surviving him are wife Tessie and two sons Andrew and Billy. A Lithuanian by birth he was a naturalized American citizen and a World War I veteran. Burial in Highlawn cemetery at Oak Hill.

Defendants Pleads Lack of Memory in Gruesome Murder Trial
In Crincet on George Roach a 35 year old farmer faces a murder indictment after the death of Maggie Robinson 76 last October. Roach claims amnesia about allegedly forcing the woman into his car and driving her at knife point. Robinson was found along a country highway and died after hospitalization. Doctors testified to evidence of attack shock and exposure including a frozen foot. State witnesses described the search and recovery of Robinson. Roach is charged with forcing her into his car and driving until a wreck ended the pursuit.
