CHICAGO (UPI) A two year old adventurer, Meyer, is indicted by a federal grand jury in East Berlin passport fraud. Edward V. Hanrahan, U S attorney, says Meyer obtained passports for 15 applicants under false employment claims for Europe, delivering them illegally and to Soviet representatives in East Berlin in 1963. Meyer, who joined the Army in 1963 and served until 1964, is described as a sole entrepreneur with no evidence of an organized ring.

Charleston dispatch reports the West Virginia Senate approved a 3 percent consumer sales tax bill after a two hour debate, defeating eight amendments. Exemptions for food and drugs were blocked as the measure heads to Gov. Smith for signature.
