Mrs Mildred Skeens 42 of Sophia dies en route to hospital from an apparent heart attack. Funeral 2 pm Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev W F Tolliver officiating. Burial Sunset Memorial Park. Born May 22 192, she was daughter of Maggie Shields and the late Alex Shields. Survivors include her husband Clayton Skeens and four stepchildren Eugene Skeens Norma Jean Kelly.

Earnel Morgan of Troy Michigan and formerly Clear Fork dies in a Troy hospital. Services are 1 p m Wednesday at First Church of God Clear Fork with Rev William Lisk. Burial in Morgan Cemetery at Clear Fork. Survived by wife Jean, three sons Barnes Ronald Richard, daughter Betty Thompson, seven brothers, one sister, five grandchildren. Burial at Morgan Cemetery. William A Mills 79 of Redlands California and formerly of Fayette County dies after a long illness. Funeral services set for Tuesday in Redlands with survivors including daughters Maude Skiles Alma James Juanita Coleman and others and nine grandchildren.
Elmer C. Blevins 60 of Toledo Ohio formerly of Raleigh County died Sunday in a Toledo hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p m Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garland Howington officiating. Burial in Calfee Cemetery Mount Tabor. He was born November 21 1903 in Raleigh son of Nobert and Arminda Wond Bie. Survived by wife Macie two daughters Dorothy Crawford Daphne Vandiver both of Toledo two sons Arnold Daniels Bobby Holland Ohio two sisters Bertha Bowling Daniels Goldie Delp Beaver and two brothers Frank Blevins Princeton James Blevins MacArthur. Body to arrive Beckley Wednesday morning.
Mike Mangin 74 of Oak Hill will have funeral services at 2 pm Tuesday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Randolph Johnson officiating. Burial follows at Tight Lawn Memorial Park. Mangin died Sunday morning in an Oak Hill hospital after retiring from Mangin's Transfer and Storage Co. He was born in Italy in August 1889 and is survived by his wife Maude, daughter Marion McClung of Alexandria VA, three step sons John George and Harry Scott of Oak Hill, and two grandchildren. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted, and the body remains at Thomas Funeral Home with call after today.

James A. Blevins, 78, of Princeton died Saturday in a Princeton hospital. Survived by his wife and seven sons and twelve daughters. Among the daughters is Mrs Delmas Prince of Beckley. Body at Bailey Funeral Home in Princeton.
Leona J. McFarland aged 13 remained in critical condition after being shot once in the stomach on a porch in Wheeling. Police held 14 year old Marshall J. Cumbertledge in jail as the investigation continued. The incident occurred Friday and the motive was described by the boy as disliking the girl. The Linwood Baptist Church announced a watch night service for Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. with Russell Johnson in charge.
Darrell Samson, a six year old from Lanark, remained in fair condition at Beckley Memorial Escapital at noon today after being hit by a coal truck Saturday afternoon. A hospital spokesman provided the update on the child’s condition.

Fred L Meadows 71 of Hinton died 2 a m Saturday in a Wentons hospital after an 18 month illness. He was born December 31 1892 near Winton son of John and the late Mrs. Meadows. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. He was survived by daughter Katherine Jolley Beckley and widow Gracie Mae Meadows who died in 1981.

Survivors streamed from the Roosevelt hotel after a devastating blaze that trapped a Manhattan College basketball squad on the fourth floor while University of Florida teams fled unharmed from upper floors.
