Teaching citizenship to children in modern America
The piece emphasizes instilling pride and duty in young Americans beyond birthright citizenship. It highlights the Beckwiths prize winning essay urging youth to understand rights and corresponding duties, vote wisely, respect public officers, and foster tolerance within families while honoring freedoms of religion, speech, and press. It also offers parenting guidance on modeling citizenship and resisting ideologies that threaten American values.
