Bald Knob Ski Slopes Opening Is Indefinite
The State Commerce Department said Bald Knob Ski Slopes at Ghent will stay inactive this weekend along with the other four major West Virginia slopes due to warm weather and insufficient base snow. Operators say roughly six inches of packed snow are needed to open. The four other areas include Oglebay Park in Wheeling with new lifts and snowmaking, Chestnut Ridge near Morgantown hosting the State Ski Meet January 22 23 and the Winter Carnival, Weiss Knob at Davis hosting the Governor's Cup Feb 4 6, and Blackwater Falls offering a beginner area and sled run. All slopes require sufficient snow and have gear rentals available except at Blackwater Falls.
