Fight holdups and thefts hit the crowded business section last night with no arrests by noon today. John Clay, barber on Nathan street, described a tall dark man grabbing $12 from his pocketbook and forcing him to surrender the money before fleeing toward Woodlawn avenue. Clay alerted bystanders and police were notified. A chicken house on East Main street and two autos on Main and South Kanawha streets were also robbed. Christmas packages were stolen from multiple unattended vehicles near Beckley theater and South Heber street. Police noted several more autos robbed Wednesday night.
